Patna : The Indian Air Force’s celebrated Surya Kiran Aerobatic Team is set to perform in Patna for the first time, with a breathtaking display of aerial manoeuvres scheduled for April 23 to mark Shaurya Diwas.
The air show, featuring nine aircraft from the Surya Kiran squadron, will take place over the JP Ganga Path at 9.30am. Known for their precision flying and formation aerobatics, the team is expected to deliver a dramatic spectacle in the skies above Bihar’s capital.
The event is part of wider Vijayotsav celebrations commemorating the birth anniversary of Babu Veer Kunwar Singh, a revered freedom fighter. A parallel ceremony is scheduled at the Bapu Auditorium, where Saran MP and BJP national spokesperson Rajiv Pratap Rudy will attend as chief guest.
The Surya Kiran team, which typically flies Hawk Mk132 jets, showcases the IAF’s strength, discipline and technical expertise. These British-designed, Indian-assembled aircraft—categorised as light to super-medium trainer jets—are built for agility and speed, capable of flying at 600 to 800 kmph.
Their high-performance capabilities allow experienced pilots to execute complex formations and thrilling stunts with precision. The Indian Air Force regards the team’s displays not only as a demonstration of aerial skill but as a symbol of national pride and military excellence.
