IndiGo Flight Grounded in Patna Due to Fuel Leak; Passengers Frustrated by Delay

Indigo to Launch Flights Connecting Darbhanga to Delhi and Mumbai in December

PATNA: IndiGo Flight 6E 342, which arrived in Patna from Kolkata, faced an unexpected setback upon reaching its destination. The aircraft was grounded after fuel began leaking from its left engine, prompting concerns over passenger safety.

The pilot detected the fuel leak just as passengers were preparing to board the plane for its return journey to Kolkata. With 181 passengers scheduled to travel from Patna to Kolkata on this flight, the situation quickly escalated into a logistical challenge for the airline.

Efforts were made by a team of engineers to rectify the issue, but their attempts proved futile, ultimately leading to the grounding of the aircraft.

As passengers awaited updates on alternative arrangements, frustration grew at Patna Airport when IndiGo did not provide information on the arrival time of the replacement flight for nearly two hours. The lack of communication sparked unrest among passengers, resulting in a disruptive situation at the airport.

Eventually, an empty flight arrived at Patna Airport at 12:00 pm and departed at 12:15 am, accommodating 158 out of the 181 passengers originally scheduled for the Kolkata-bound journey. The remaining 23 passengers were redirected to flights bound for Delhi and Ahmedabad, from where they would connect to their final destinations via connecting flights from Kolkata.
