Patna: In a significant development for residents of Mithilanchal region, IndiGo Airlines will begin operating flights from Darbhanga Airport starting December 1. This new service will provide daily flights between Darbhanga and Delhi, and flights to Mumbai four days a week. Ticket sales are expected to commence shortly.
The announcement follows the recent cancellation of flights from Darbhanga Airport, which had left passengers facing difficulties and led to decreased confidence in the airport’s services. To address these issues, Sanjay Kumar Jha met with Union Civil Aviation Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia in New Delhi on September 21. During this meeting, Jha submitted a detailed memorandum highlighting the need for improvements at Darbhanga Airport, including runway expansion to support the airport’s potential to operate at an international level. Minister Scindia offered his support in securing a time slot for IndiGo.
Further discussions took place on September 23 at Jha’s residence in Delhi, where he met with IndiGo’s Special Director. They discussed operational details of the airline’s new service from Darbhanga Airport.
With IndiGo’s new flights, passengers in the Mithila region will have increased options for travel to Delhi and Mumbai, supporting the airport’s growth and contributing to better connectivity for Darbhanga.
