Interim Bail Granted to Rabri Devi, Misa Bharti, and Hema Yadav in Railways Land-for-Job Case
New Delhi: A Delhi court granted interim bail to former Bihar chief minister Rabri Devi and her daughters Misa Bharti and Hema Yadav until February 28 in the Railways land-for-job case.
Special Judge Vishal Gogne provided relief to the three individuals after the Enforcement Directorate (ED) expressed the need for time to file arguments on their regular bail application.
The accused appeared before the court in response to summons issued after the court took cognizance of the charge sheet filed by the ED.
During the proceedings, the court questioned the ED about the necessity for the accused’s custody when they were not arrested during the investigation.
The ED has submitted a 4,751-page chargesheet, accusing a total of seven individuals, including two companies, in the money laundering case.
During the hearing, the court inquired whether anyone besides Amit Katyal had been arrested in the case. The ED responded that only Amit Katyal was arrested.
Katyal appeared via video conferencing during the hearing. Earlier, a Delhi court granted interim bail on medical grounds to Katyal, who was arrested last year in connection with the alleged land-for-jobs scam involving RJD chief Lalu Prasad and several members of his family.
Katyal was initially detained and later arrested by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) on November 11, 2023, under the provisions of the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA).
The central agency alleged that Katyal had “acquired” land from several aspirants on behalf of RJD chief Lalu Prasad and former Union railways minister Lalu Prasad.
