IPS Vikas Vaibhav calls for collective effort to build a prosperous Bihar at Gopal Narayan Singh University event
Rohtas: IPS officer Vikas Vaibhav addressed a gathering of students from medical colleges across Bihar at the ‘Meta 2.0’ festival, held at Gopal Narayan Singh University in Rohtas, where he emphasized that no goal is unattainable if pursued with dedication, clarity, and determination. Speaking about his experiences during his tenures in Bagaha and Rohtas, Vaibhav shared the efforts made to tackle local challenges, underscoring the importance of a broad vision inspired by cultural heritage.
He reflected on the transformations he witnessed, once thought impossible, which reignited his belief that significant change is achievable across Bihar. Vaibhav urged the students to rise above discrimination and contribute to a collective vision of progress through education, equality, and entrepreneurship. He expressed confidence that by 2047, Bihar could become a state where no one needs to leave for education, employment, or healthcare.
Vaibhav also spoke highly of Gopal Narayan Singh University, recalling its establishment under challenging circumstances and its subsequent growth. He praised the institution’s founder, Gopal Narayan Singh, for his farsightedness and tireless efforts. Vaibhav recalled his presence at the university’s first annual function in 2010 when it was still Narayan Medical College and Hospital, and his continued connection with the university even after being posted elsewhere.
He emphasized the need for high-level educational institutions in every block of Bihar, noting that such establishments would help educate and skill the state’s large population. Vaibhav reflected on the region’s rich history, pointing to ancient universities that once attracted scholars from around the world, and called for Bihar to once again harness the broad, inclusive vision of its ancestors.
Addressing the challenges facing Bihar today, Vaibhav lamented that the state’s potential is being squandered by divisions of caste and community, leading to a cycle of internal conflict. He stressed the need for an honest, united effort to change societal perspectives and foster large-scale entrepreneurship.
Vaibhav also highlighted the ‘Namaste Bihar Big Public Dialogue,’ a series of public events aimed at spreading the campaign’s messages across the state. The initiative, which began in Begusarai in December 2023, is set to continue with a program in Sasaram on 1 December 2024. Vaibhav urged the audience to join the campaign, Let’s Inspire Bihar, which began in March 2021 and now has over 105,000 supporters, to help build a brighter future for the state.
