Gaya: Jan Suraj candidates Mohammad Amjad from Belaganj and Dr. Jitendra Paswan from Imamganj filed their nomination papers on Thursday for the upcoming assembly by-elections. The nominations took place at the District Magistrate’s office in Gaya, accompanied by a massive padyatra led by Jan Suraj convenor Prashant Kishore. Thousands of supporters marched alongside Kishore from the sports complex at Gaya College to the District Collectorate, filling the streets with slogans in support of Jan Suraj.
Prashant Kishore, along with Executive President of Jan Suraj, Manoj Bharti, addressed the gathering and emphasized the honesty and integrity of their campaign, highlighting that they had been walking through villages for the past two years. He expressed confidence in the strength of their movement, which he believes is reflected in the people’s growing support. This is the first time Jan Suraj Party candidates are contesting elections since the party’s formation.
Kishore also spoke of Bihar’s political situation, stating that the public is frustrated with the governance of the past 30-35 years under both Lalu Prasad’s and Nitish Kumar’s leadership. He predicted victory for all four Jan Suraj candidates in the by-elections scheduled for November 23.
Mohammad Amjad, the candidate from Belaganj, has a strong political background, having contested elections on JD (U) and LJP tickets and previously serving as Mukhiya of Bhaluwa 1 Panchayat. Dr. Jitendra Paswan, the candidate from Imamganj, is a well-known doctor who provided free medical services during the Covid-19 pandemic and is committed to continuing his work in social and medical services.
