Jeevika Didis to Ride Electric Cycles in Bihar, Boosting Employment and Business

Muzaffarpur/ Patna: Jeevika Didis in Bihar will now use electric bicycles to expand their employment and business opportunities. With the help of these e-cycles, they will be able to travel long distances for work. Under the pilot project of the Stree program, selected Jeevika Didis from Muzaffarpur, Vaishali, and Patna will be the first beneficiaries.

During a workshop recently held in Madipur, Jeevika’s district project manager Anisha shared that in the first phase, 50 Jeevika Didis from these three districts have been selected as electric champions. These electric champions will then choose 450 entrepreneurial sisters from different groups to expand the initiative. The four-day residential workshop was organized under the aegis of PCI India.

GESI head Ritu Singh explained how electric cycles will impact energy consumption in daily activities. The e-cycle will come with GPS and an IT-OT plug, making it more efficient. This initiative is expected to boost rural women’s entrepreneurship while also supporting environmental conservation.

Vikas Kumar, State Project Manager of PCI India, highlighted the workshop’s purpose—empowering women and making them self-reliant through eco-friendly solutions. He emphasized that this effort will not only create business opportunities but also contribute to a greener future.
