Patna: Vehicles will be able to travel on JP Ganga Path up to Didarganj from April 1, as work on the 20.5km stretch nears completion. Currently, the elevated expressway is operational only between Digha and Kangan Ghat.
The Bihar State Road Development Corporation (BSPDC) has finished blacktopping the section between Kangan Ghat and Patna Ghat. However, three spans, covering a 150-metre stretch between Patna Ghat and Didarganj, remain to be installed. Officials said the remaining construction would be completed by the end of February, with finishing work set to follow in early March after the segment launcher is removed.
To improve connectivity, plans are in place to construct a U-turn on the elevated road between Kangan Ghat and Patna Ghat. Additionally, a down ramp will be built near Gaighat, with the tender process already underway. Officials expect to finalise an agency in March and commence construction soon after. Once completed, vehicles will be able to access Didarganj via an underpass from Kangan Ghat and Gaighat, replacing the current requirement to take a U-turn at Krishna Ghat underpass.
Connectivity to Patna Ghat is already in place, but further work is pending on railway-owned land. Officials are awaiting a no-objection certificate (NOC) to begin construction of a new road similar to Atal Path, which will provide direct access from Patna Ghat to Patna Sahib railway station. The planned road is set to be the widest in central Patna, easing congestion and improving travel for residents in the eastern part of the city.
