JP Nadda Inspects AIIMS Darbhanga Site, Sanjay Jha Calls It a Milestone for Mithila

Darbhanga: Rajya Sabha MP and Janata Dal (United) acting national president, Sanjay Kumar Jha, has hailed the upcoming AIIMS in Darbhanga as a transformative project for the Mithila region. Speaking at a function on Saturday, following Union Health and Family Welfare Minister JP Nadda’s inspection of the site earmarked for AIIMS, Jha said the new facility would be a “game changer” for the people of North Bihar and beyond.

Jha expressed his gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi for sanctioning Bihar’s second AIIMS and to Chief Minister Nitish Kumar for ensuring that Darbhanga was chosen as the location. He emphasised that Bihar is the second state in India to receive two AIIMS, and credited Nitish Kumar’s vision for selecting Darbhanga, given the historical significance of Darbhanga Medical College and Hospital (DMCH), the second-oldest hospital in the state.

“The establishment of AIIMS in Darbhanga will not only provide top-tier healthcare but will also lead to economic growth, creating numerous employment opportunities in the region,” Jha said. He added that the improved road connectivity in Bihar would make it easier for people from North Bihar and even neighbouring Nepal to access the facility.

Jha dismissed any lingering doubts about the project, confirming that JP Nadda had assured AIIMS Darbhanga would be one of the best in the country. “The Union Minister’s visit has cleared all confusion. Darbhanga AIIMS will set a benchmark in healthcare for the region,” he said.

Jha also highlighted the state government’s commitment to ensuring the success of the project. He noted that Chief Minister Nitish Kumar had promised four-lane road connectivity to AIIMS Darbhanga and pledged additional support at the state level to ensure the smooth progress of the project.

With the AIIMS project and the newly inaugurated 210-bed super specialty hospital on the DMCH campus, Jha said the region was poised to become a significant healthcare hub, benefitting not just Bihar but the entire Mithila region and neighbouring Nepal. “In the coming years, Darbhanga will become a centre for advanced treatment and employment,” he added, underlining the long-term benefits of the project.
