June Ration Distribution Begins in Bihar; May Quota Still Available For Eligible Beneficiaries

Patna: Distribution of food grains under the National Food Security Act (NFSA) for June has commenced across Bihar, with beneficiaries now able to collect their entitlements through their nearest Public Distribution System (PDS) vendor. The Food and Consumer Protection Department confirmed that the process began on May 22 and will continue through standard biometric verification via the e-POS system.

However, in a fresh announcement, the department has also provided a lifeline to those who missed collecting their ration for May. While the scheduled distribution for May concluded on May 20, several reports from field offices and information sources indicated that a segment of beneficiaries did not receive their share. In response, authorities are allowing late disbursement of the May quota, conditional upon biometric verification.

Beneficiaries who missed their May allocation must undergo e-POS verification to access their entitlements. Once verified, they will also be able to collect their June quota through a second round of biometric authentication.

The department has urged all eligible individuals to visit their nearest PDS vendor promptly to ensure they receive both their pending and current monthly rations without delay.
