Kargil Martyr Manish Kumar’s Mortal Remains Reach Nawada, Thousands Join Funeral Procession with Slogans of ‘Jai Hind’

The body of Kargil martyr Manish Kumar reached Nawada, Bihar, where thousands gathered to pay their final respects. The martyr was given a farewell with full state honors amid chants of ‘Jai Hind’.

Nawada: The mortal remains of Manish Kumar, a soldier from Bihar’s Nawada district who was martyred in Kargil during Operation Rakshak, arrived in his hometown on Saturday morning. An overwhelming number of locals joined the funeral procession to bid a tearful farewell to the braveheart, chanting patriotic slogans and showering floral tributes.

Manish Kumar, a resident of Pandey Gangaut village and a soldier of the Army Medical Corps posted at FMN HQ 8 Mountain Division under Northern Command, laid down his life on May 14 at 7:15 AM while serving in Jammu & Kashmir’s high-altitude Kargil sector.

His body reached Nawada Police Line at around 8 AM, brought from Patna after being flown in from Delhi. The hearse carrying the martyr’s body, adorned with flowers, began its journey towards his ancestral village around 10 AM. As it passed through Prajatantr Chowk at 10:30 AM, the crowd broke into emotional cries of ‘Jai Hind’, waving the tricolour and saluting the nation’s hero.

State honors were observed, with senior officials and thousands of residents joining the procession. The last rites are being conducted at Pandey Gangaut, where Manish’s sacrifice will forever be etched in the hearts of the people.

“Martyr Manish’s devotion to duty and his ultimate sacrifice in service of the nation will never be forgotten,” said an official present during the tribute.
