Patna : Maharashtra’s Vedant Nitin struck gold in the 50m 3 Positions Rifle (Men’s Youth category) at the Khelo India Youth Games 2025, held in Bihar, with a score of 452.5. His performance on day three of the shooting competition placed him ahead of Haryana’s Rohit Kanyan (451.9) and Punjab’s Amitoj Singh (440.1), who claimed silver and bronze respectively.
The event, hosted at Delhi’s Karni Singh Shooting Range, is part of a larger multi-city effort with Delhi also staging cycling and gymnastics events between May 4 and 15.
Vedant, reflecting on his achievement, said: “In the last edition of Khelo India, I finished fifth once, so I was a bit nervous this time. But winning gold feels very special. I’ve been part of the Khelo India programme since 2022, and the financial support has made a big difference. The arrangements made by the Bihar government this year have been excellent.”
Rohit Kanyan, narrowly missing the top spot, was optimistic: “If I had taken my last shot better, I could have won gold. But I’m targeting the top podium in future events.”
Bronze medallist Amitoj Singh was participating in the Khelo India Youth Games for the first time. “This was my first competition here, and by God’s grace, I’ve secured a bronze medal,” he said.
