Kundan Krishnan Appointed ADG Headquarters; Seven IPS Officers Transferred in Bihar
Patna: The Bihar Police Headquarters underwent major changes on Tuesday with Kundan Krishnan being appointed as Additional Director General (ADG) Headquarters. Krishnan, who recently returned from central deputation, will now also manage the responsibilities of Director General (Headquarters), a role earlier held by Jitendra Singh Gangwar. Gangwar has been relieved from this charge and will now serve solely as Director General, Civil Defense. The Police Branch of the Home Department issued the transfer notification on Tuesday afternoon.
The reshuffle included the transfer of seven senior IPS officers. Vivek Kumar has been appointed as Deputy Inspector General (DIG) of Bhagalpur Range, replacing Vivekanand, who has been reassigned as DIG in the Special Task Force, Patna.
Further changes include the appointment of 1995 batch IPS officer Pankaj Darad as Additional Director General of Police (Law and Order). He will also handle the responsibilities of the Additional Director General of the Special Surveillance Unit. Sanjay Singh, who previously held the position of ADG (Law and Order), has been transferred to the role of ADG (Training).
Another notable shift is the transfer of 2001 batch IPS officer Shalin, who was earlier posted as Inspector General (IG) in Bihar Special Armed Police. Shalin has now been appointed as IG of the Anti-Terrorist Squad. He will continue to hold additional charge as IG in Bihar Special Armed Police until further instructions.
These strategic postings and transfers reflect the government’s efforts to strengthen key operational areas within the police department.
