KVK Sabour Reaches Over 16,000 Farmers in 15-Day Agricultural Outreach Drive

The Krishi Vigyan Kendra in Sabour connected with 16,218 farmers across 135 villages in Bhagalpur during a 15-day campaign to promote scientific farming practices.

Sabour: In a significant push towards scientific agriculture, the Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK), Sabour, marked a notable milestone under the Vikasit Krishi Sankalp Abhiyan, reaching out to 16,218 farmers over a span of just 15 days. Organised between May 29 and June 12 under the guidance of the Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR), the campaign focused on disseminating technical knowledge directly to farming communities in Bhagalpur district.

Three dedicated teams comprising scientists and field officers visited 135 villages, holding interactive sessions with 12,045 male and 4,173 female farmers. A total of 395 personnel were deployed, including 27 KVK/BAU scientists, 35 departmental officers, 102 agriculture coordinators, 64 agricultural technical managers, 64 block technical managers, and 130 agricultural scientists.

The campaign addressed a broad spectrum of agricultural challenges, offering guidance on water management, pest and disease control, organic farming, mechanisation, balanced use of fertilisers, and central government schemes.

Rajesh Kumar, Senior Scientist and Head of KVK Sabour, said, “This campaign was a meaningful effort towards empowering farmers with a scientific approach. Our scientists not only imparted technical knowledge, but also significantly recorded the innovations and experiences of the farmers. The significant participation of women farmers is an indication that a wave of agricultural change is going on in the villages. KVK Sabour will continue to work in the interest of farmers with the same energy and commitment in the future as well.”

Key features of the campaign included the identification of village-specific agricultural issues, simple language delivery of complex information, digital documentation of each activity, and a strong emphasis on women’s participation.
