New Delhi: RJD supremo and former Bihar Chief Minister Lalu Prasad has been discharged from Delhi’s All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) after nearly 19 days of treatment. The veteran leader, who had been admitted following a sudden deterioration in health on April 2, is now recuperating at the Delhi residence of his elder daughter and Rajya Sabha MP Misa Bharti.
Initially admitted to Paras Hospital in Patna, Lalu was referred to AIIMS on the advice of doctors for further medical supervision. Sources close to the family said the 76-year-old leader is now stable but will remain in Delhi for a few more days before returning to Patna.
The Rashtriya Janata Dal patriarch’s hospital stay drew a stream of political visitors, reflecting his enduring influence in national politics. Among them was Union Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, who visited AIIMS to check on Lalu’s condition, signalling a rare moment of cross-party goodwill.
RJD’s Bihar unit chief Jagdanand Singh, who is also undergoing treatment at AIIMS, visited Lalu a day before his discharge. Several other party leaders also called on the former chief minister during his stay at the hospital.
