Lalu Prasad Undergoes Surgery at Delhi AIIMS After Health Deteriorates

New Delhi/Patna: Former Bihar Chief Minister and Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) leader Lalu Prasad has undergone surgery at Delhi’s All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) following a deterioration in his health. The 76-year-old politician, who has long battled multiple health issues, was admitted to the hospital late on Wednesday after developing infections in wounds on his back and hand.

Lalu , who initially received treatment at Paras Hospital in Patna, was flown to Delhi on Wednesday evening accompanied by his wife, Rabri Devi, and a team of doctors. He was scheduled to travel by Air India earlier in the day, but a sudden decline in his condition forced him to seek emergency care in Patna before making the journey. Upon arrival in Delhi, he was immediately taken to AIIMS, where specialists carried out a surgical procedure to treat his wounds.

The veteran leader, who suffers from diabetes, hypertension, and has previously undergone heart surgery and a kidney transplant, had developed an infection due to his injuries. His condition is currently stable, and he remains under close medical supervision at AIIMS.

Sources close to the family said Lalu had been experiencing discomfort for several days. Initially, his condition was managed at home under medical supervision, but his worsening health prompted the decision to shift him to Delhi for advanced care. AIIMS doctors have since addressed the infection through surgery and are closely monitoring his recovery.

Lalu, a dominant figure in Bihar’s political landscape for decades, has faced numerous health challenges in recent years. While his party remains tight-lipped on his current status, RJD leaders and supporters continue to express concern over his well-being.
