Liquor Worth Rs 10 Lakh Seized from Patna Warehouse; Two Smugglers Arrested

Police seized foreign liquor worth Rs 10 lakh in Patna and arrested two men transporting the consignment from Uttar Pradesh.

Patna: A major consignment of foreign liquor valued at over Rs 10 lakh was seized by the Shastrinagar police in Patna’s Punaichak area. The liquor was being stored in a warehouse linked to a local grocery shop and was intended for distribution across several neighbourhoods in the city.

Two men, identified as Dinesh Kumar (32) from Kauwakol in Nawada and Piyush Kumar (21) from Deoria, Uttar Pradesh, were arrested on the spot. During interrogation, they revealed that the consignment had been brought from Uttar Pradesh and was to be distributed from the godown of a shop named Pappu Kirana.

According to Shastrinagar Station House Officer Amar Kumar, the liquor network extends to other states. Acting on confidential information, police conducted a late-night raid during which the accused were caught while unloading boxes. Others involved fled the scene as the police arrived.

The warehouse belongs to Shambhu Sharan, a resident of Sherpur village under Maner police station. Authorities said the premises will be sealed, and further investigation is underway to identify others involved. A vehicle used in transporting the liquor has also been seized.
