Patna: With the 2025 Bihar Assembly elections drawing closer, political winds are beginning to shift as the Lok Janshakti Party (Ram Vilas) intensifies its campaign to project party chief and Union Minister Chirag Paswan as its Chief Ministerial face. The move comes shortly after a survey placed Paswan among the top choices of the electorate in the state, lending momentum to internal calls for his elevation within the Bihar political landscape.

Leading the charge, Jamui MP and Chirag’s brother-in-law Arun Bharti drew a clear line between Chirag’s political vision and that of his late father, LJP founder Ram Vilas Paswan. “Unlike his father, who focused on central politics, Chirag has consistently placed Bihar at the heart of his political narrative,” Bharti said in an interview on Sunday. “People across Bihar are now looking to him for leadership and development.”

Bharti went on to frame the upcoming election as a generational moment, stating, “This election will determine who will shape Bihar’s political ecosystem for the next 25–30 years. Chirag Paswan, with his ‘Bihar First, Bihari First’ vision, has emerged as the top choice.”

Adding organisational heft to the political pitch, the youth wing of LJP (Ram Vilas) passed a resolution on Sunday declaring Chirag as their choice for CM. Speaking at the party’s state headquarters in Patna, State President of Yuva LJP (Ram Vilas), Ved Prakash Pandey, said, “Yuva Lok Janshakti Party (Ram Vilas) will strongly contest the 2025 Assembly elections with the ‘Mai’ (Mahila and Yuva) equation and is determined to make Chirag Paswan the Chief Minister.”

The youth wing plans to contest at least 15 seats in the forthcoming elections. Pandey also announced the expansion of the Jan Jagran Abhiyan—a public outreach campaign—aimed at mobilising youth across communities under the leadership of Chirag. “The slogan ‘Bihar First, Bihari First’ will echo from village streets to urban squares,” he said.

The push has also been reinforced by Chirag himself, who, in a recent television interview, hinted at a shift in his political focus. “My state is calling me. I don’t want to remain in central politics for long,” he said, underscoring a clear intent to root his ambitions firmly in Bihar.

With the LJP (Ram Vilas) reorganising its ground game and banking on the youth vote, Chirag’s emergence as a potential CM contender may reshape the state’s political arithmetic—especially if alliances and voter moods align in his favour.
