Lok Sabha Polls: Bihar’s Sixth Phase Voting Sees 9.66% Turnout by 9 am
Patna: In the ongoing sixth phase of the Lok Sabha elections, voters are casting their ballots across eight crucial seats in Bihar: Valmiki Nagar, West Champaran, East Champaran, Sheohar, Vaishali, Gopalganj, Siwan, and Maharajganj. The polling stations in some assembly constituencies of Valmiki Nagar will remain open until 4 pm, while voting in all other areas will continue until 6 pm.
As of 9 am, voter turnout was recorded at 9.66%, with Vaishali leading at 11.95%. However, the election process has faced challenges, with reports of electronic voting machine (EVM) malfunctions surfacing from Motihari, Sheohar, and Valmiki Nagar.
Notably, Hina Shahab, an independent candidate from Siwan, was among the early voters. She expressed confidence in securing public support, stating that the electorate has backed her in the past and will continue to do so.
A substantial electorate of over 14.9 million is participating in this phase, including 7.8 million male voters, 7.1 million female voters, and 428 third-gender voters.
This phase is pivotal for several prominent political figures, including Lovely Anand, wife of the notorious Bahubali, Munna Shukla, senior BJP leader Radha Mohan Singh, and Sanjay Jaiswal. The results of this phase could significantly impact the political landscape, determining the fates of these veterans.
