Major Route Change for Buses in Darbhanga Town from August to Ease Traffic
Darbhanga: To alleviate traffic congestion, routes for bus operations within the city limits will change starting the first week of August. Buses traveling from Delhi Mor to Kusheshwarsthan, Biraul, or Saharsa will no longer pass through Station Road and Donar Chowk.
New routes have been established to facilitate smoother traffic flow. Buses from Delhi Mor will now travel via Ranipur, Bijli, Tarasrai, Sakri, and Dharoda to reach Benipur. Similarly, buses from Laheriyasarai bus stand to Madhubani, Kamtaul, and other destinations will follow the route from Laheriyasarai to Delhi Mor bus stand via Saidannagar, Ekmi, and Bharoul through Shobhan bypass.
A meeting chaired by Commissioner Manish Kumar included various officials, who discussed the new traffic management proposals. In the absence of the DM-SSP, representatives like ADM Neeraj Kumardas, City SP Shubham Arya, Municipal Commissioner Kumar Gaurab, and others participated. They proposed creating three specific routes for auto- rickshaw operations and marking autos with colored strips for easy identification.
Officials are also searching for rental land near BMP for passenger buses currently operating from Rajkumarganj, Donar, Sonki, Dharoda, Majhodha, Benipur, Satighat, Supaul, Ber Chowk, and other areas. Currently, 171 buses operate through the city, causing daily traffic jams that often result in long delays for commuters.
Additionally, measures will be taken to remove roadside encroachments by shopkeepers, organize vendor placements with a time-table, and ensure efficient garbage collection during non-peak hours to avoid daytime traffic jams. School buses will continue to operate immediately, but no passenger buses will be allowed during no-entry periods.
Traffic police will be deployed at key intersections within the municipal corporation area until at least 8 pm to manage traffic flow. The decision to change bus routes was made during the RTA meeting, aiming to provide relief from traffic congestion. Passenger buses running on routes from Laheriyasarai to Darbhanga Station will now follow the new route via Laheriyasarai Bus Stand, Ekmi, and Shobhan Darbhanga Bus Stand.
