‘Make in Bihar’ for Clean Energy: Minister Nitish Mishra at Bihar Solar Show

Patna: Bihar’s Industries Minister Nitish Mishra on Wednesday called for a new era of green development, reaffirming the state’s commitment to solar energy and inviting robust private investment at the 2nd edition of the Bihar Solar Show, jointly organised by the Indian Chamber of Commerce (ICC) and Bihar Renewable Energy Development Agency (BREDA).
Speaking at the event’s inaugural session, Mishra said Bihar’s historical reverence for the Sun, reflected in the cultural celebration of Chhath Puja, must now align with modern-day solar innovation. “We are committed to reshaping Bihar’s energy narrative. With upcoming initiatives like the Green Corridor near Jhanjharpur, the time is ripe to capitalise on our solar potential,” the minister said.
The event witnessed participation from more than 200 delegates and over 20 speakers from the renewable energy sector, including representatives of Adani Solar, Jindal (JSW) Energy, and IYRO Solar. Mishra emphasised the state’s dual distinction as a major consumer and high-potential generator of solar energy, urging greater collaboration between government, investors and technology providers.
Other dignitaries included Bihar Electricity Regulatory Commission Chairman Amir Subhani, BREDA Director and North Bihar Power MD Nilesh Deore, SIDBI Regional Head Anubha Prasad and ICC Bihar State Council Chairman Prabhat Kumar Sinha. Subhani spoke about the regulatory reforms aimed at creating an enabling environment for solar investments, while Deore presented the agency’s efforts to bring Bihar’s solar infrastructure in line with national benchmarks.
Prasad highlighted the vital role of financing in the clean energy transition and reiterated SIDBI’s commitment to nurturing green entrepreneurship in the region.
Technical sessions following the inaugural focused on “Vision for Bihar’s Solar Revolution” and “Advances in Solar Technology and Green Financing”, where industry leaders discussed solar manufacturing, EPC projects and the creation of a thriving solar investment ecosystem.
ICC’s Renewable Energy Committee Chair K.K. Singh praised BREDA’s work, particularly its implementation of solar-powered street lighting across the state.
With energy and industry departments collaborating more closely than ever, the summit reinforced Bihar’s message: it is ready to lead India’s clean energy future.
