Patna: Renowned Bollywood actor Manoj Bajpayee arrived in Patna to promote his latest film ‘Bhaiya Ji,’ marking the 100th film of his illustrious career. During a conversation with reporters, Bajpayee shared insights into his journey and his remarkable dedication to performing his own stunts.

Expressing his joy over this significant milestone, Bajpayee likened his 100th film to a grand celebration. “It’s like a festival for me,” he said, urging the audience to join in the celebration. “All this has been possible only because of the audience.”

Bajpayee revealed that he was unaware ‘Bhaiya Ji’ would be his 100th film until his director informed him. “I never count my actions. Wherever I go in the country, there is such happiness as if their own milestone is being completed.”

In ‘Bhaiya Ji,’ Bajpayee performed 99% of the action sequences himself, avoiding the use of a body double. Acknowledging the risks, he attributed his ability to his disciplined lifestyle and spiritual practices. “At my age, doing stunts on my own is no less than dangerous. I used to read the Hanuman Chalisa every day before going for shooting,” he shared.

Directed by Apoorva Singh Karki, ‘Bhaiya Ji’ is set against the backdrop of a village in Bihar. Bajpayee explained that the film delves into the relationships, traditions, and culture of the region. “Such a story had not come here for many years,” he noted, emphasizing the film’s focus on regional authenticity.

Despite its specific setting, Bajpayee believes the film’s narrative has universal appeal. “This film is fictional, so its story could be set anywhere in UP, Bihar, Madhya Pradesh, Bengal. It tells the story of the responsibility of an elder brother who promised his father to take care of his stepmother and stepbrother.”

‘Bhaiya Ji’ revolves around the struggles and respect of an elder brother towards his stepmother. Only upon fulfilling his familial duties does he consider his own aspirations. This poignant tale of familial responsibility is set to resonate with audiences when it releases in theaters on May 24.
