Bettiah/Patna: The quiet village of Mathia, in ward number 7 under the Lauriya police station area, has been rocked by a grim discovery as a 30-year-old man, reportedly overwhelmed by family tension, committed suicide by hanging himself from a fan. The deceased has been identified as Deepu Pandey, son of Jitendra Pandey, a resident of Mathia village.
Upon receiving the devastating news, Lauriya police swiftly arrived at the scene. They took the body into custody and initiated the process of transferring it to the Government Medical College Hospital for a postmortem examination.
Returning Home to Despair
SHO Ramesh Kumar Sharma stated that while the case primarily appears to be a suicide, police are meticulously investigating every angle. Deepu, who had been working as a laborer in Mumbai, had only returned to the village a day prior to the tragic incident. On Sunday, he was found hanging in his home.
According to family members and villagers, Deepu had been experiencing marital discord with his wife, Rupam Devi, for some time. Rupam had reportedly been living at her maternal home for several months. The separation and the escalating domestic tension seemingly took a heavy toll on Deepu, causing him significant mental distress. Sources close to the family also suggest that he may have succumbed to drug addiction and was battling depression.
A Family Left Shattered
Deepu had married Rupam Devi, a resident of Malahitola, in 2016, and they had a seven-year-old son. The news of his untimely death spread rapidly through the village, drawing a somber crowd of shocked residents. Family members are inconsolable, struggling to come to terms with the sudden loss. Public representatives and local community members have gathered at the Pandey residence, offering their condolences and support to the grieving family in their time of immense sorrow.
