Mayor, PMC empowered standing committee members inspect Chhath Ghats in Patna
Patna: Mayor Sita Sahu, accompanied by Deputy Mayor Reshmi Chandravanshi and members of the Empowered Standing Committee of Patna Municipal Corporation (PMC), conducted a comprehensive inspection of the Chhath Ghats in the city on Monday. The inspection covered Nasriganj Ghat to Kangan Ghat, assessing the structural conditions and readiness of all the ghats under the PMC’s jurisdiction.
During the inspection, the officials scrutinized Nasriganj, Shiva Ghat, Patalipul Ghat, Digha Ghat, Rajapurpul Ghat, Bansghat, Collectorate-Mahendru Ghat, Kalighat, NIT Ghat, Gaighat, and Kangan Ghat. Mayor Sita Sahu expressed satisfaction with the preparations, noting that the Ganga Ghats are now ready, complete with barricading. She commended the corporation officials for their timely efforts but emphasized the need to expedite the remaining work.
Appreciation for Well-Prepared Ghats
Mayor Sita Sahu particularly appreciated the arrangements at Collectorate, Mahendru and Digha Ghats. She directed officials to enhance facilities for devotees at these locations, recognizing that better-prepared ghats attract more worshippers. Additional Municipal Commissioner Sheela Irani provided the Mayor with a detailed overview of the preparations at each ghat, highlighting the completion of all necessary tasks.
All the ghats have undergone preparations, and vehicle parking arrangements have been made in close proximity. Notably, Digha, Collectorate, and Mahendru Ghats boast flat water surfaces. Special provisions are being made at sand ghats to accommodate the expected influx of devotees, she said.
Mayor’s Instructions for Impeccable Celebrations
Mayor Sita Sahu issued a set of instructions to ensure the smooth conduct of Chhath festivities. Her directives include the measurement of water levels post-barricading at all ghats, ensuring robust barricading to prevent any inconvenience for devotees. The Mayor emphasized the importance of maintaining well-kept changing rooms at each ghat and implementing comprehensive cleaning measures across all locations.
Additionally, she urged the promotion of a cleanliness message during the Chhath festival and swift action to address any post-Diwali debris or waste. These instructions aim to enhance the overall experience and environmental conditions for those participating in the celebration.
