Metro Rail to Begin Operations in Patna by August, Confirms Union Minister

Patna: The Patna Metro is set to begin operations by August, with the 6.2 km stretch from ISBT to Malahi Pakadi scheduled to open, Union Housing and Urban Affairs Minister Manohar Lal confirmed during his visit to Bihar’s capital on Tuesday.
During a review meeting at the State Guest House, the minister assessed the progress of various urban development projects, including the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (PMAY), AMRUT scheme, metro construction, and PM e-bus service. He expressed satisfaction with the implementation of these initiatives, stating that Bihar has been allocated 50,000 houses under PMAY 2.0, with additional housing provisions based on population needs over the next five years.
Additionally, the Centre has allocated 500 electric buses for Bihar’s cities and Rs 269.44 crore under Swachh Bharat Mission 2.0 for solid and liquid waste management.
The meeting was attended by Bihar’s Urban Development and Housing Minister Jibesh Kumar, along with senior officials including UDHD Secretary Abhay Kumar Singh, BUIDCo Managing Director Animesh Parashar, Additional Secretary Varsha Singh, and Vijay Kumar Meena.
