Patna: Nitish Mishra, Minister of the Tourism Department, laid the foundation stone for the development of Digha Tourism Ghat in Patna on Wednesday. Speaking at the event, Mishra stated that the Tourism Department is focused on transforming Janardhan Ghat into a prominent tourist destination. The project aims to provide essential amenities for tourists visiting the ghat for water sports activities and Ganga tours via Ro-Ro vessels.

The development of the ghat will prioritise eco-friendly construction, with all structures designed to be temporary and adaptable to fluctuating water levels. The construction will utilise a prefabrication model that allows for easy displacement when required. Mishra emphasised that the materials used will be eco-friendly to maintain the ecological balance of the Ganga.

The total area for the development of the Patna tourism ghat will span 45,000 square feet, with an estimated cost of Rs 190.33 lakh. The project includes the construction of a cafeteria, separate toilet blocks for men and women, a shaded sitting area, solar-powered high-mast lights, parking space, and benches for tourists.

The event was attended by Nand Kishore, Managing Director of the Bihar State Tourism Development Corporation; Abhijeet Kumar, General Manager; Ashok Kumar, Chief Engineer; along with other departmental officers and employees.
