Minister Turns Master? Ashok Chaudhary Bags Assistant Professor Post in Political Science

Patna: Bihar’s Minister for Rural Works, Ashok Chaudhary, has been selected for the post of Assistant Professor in Political Science under the Scheduled Caste category, as per the final results released by the Bihar State University Service Commission.
The appointment comes as part of the long-delayed recruitment drive launched in 2020 to fill vacant teaching positions across the state’s universities and colleges. Four years on, the Commission has now declared the final list of selected candidates following interviews.
Chaudhary, currently 58, is a senior leader in the Nitish Kumar-led cabinet and is widely considered to be one of the Chief Minister’s closest allies. His inclusion in the merit list has prompted speculation about whether he will take up the academic role, which would require him to either resign from his ministerial post or seek special permission to serve in both capacities.
If he declines the post, the position will be declared vacant and carried forward to future rounds of recruitment. His appointment, however, adds a notable political twist to an otherwise routine academic selection process.
The development comes amid heightened scrutiny of appointments and political affiliations in state institutions, particularly with assembly elections on the horizon.
