Minor Fire at Patna Airport Swiftly Contained, No Disruption to Operations

Patna: A minor fire broke out at Patna Airport on Thursday during maintenance work, but was quickly brought under control without affecting flight operations.

The incident occurred in the old SHA (Security Hold Area) near the airline ticketing counters during a steel-cutting task, when sparks from gas-cutting equipment ignited nearby material. Airport authorities confirmed the fire was accidental in nature.

An employee of the contractor on-site used fire extinguishers to tackle the flames before the airport’s dedicated emergency response was mobilised. Personnel from the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) and the Air Traffic Control (ATC) tower alerted the Fire Control Room, following which the Airport Fire Rescue Vehicle (AFRV) arrived and fully contained the situation.

Officials confirmed there was no damage to infrastructure and no disruption to airport operations. Aircraft movement continued without interruption.
