Mission Janseva: Bihar Introduces Online FIRs and Citizen Services in Policing
PATNA – Bihar’s police stations are set to embrace online complaints, introducing an innovative system for filing e-FIR and e-primacy, particularly for cases involving mobile vehicle theft or document loss. This pioneering initiative was announced by Additional Director General of Police Jitendra Singh Gangwar on Friday, marking a significant step in the state’s law enforcement.
The implementation of an exclusive link for citizen services under the Crime and Criminal Tracking and Networking System (CCTNS) is a crucial aspect of this development. ADG Gangwar disclosed that Mission Janseva aims to provide nine types of police services online or through WhatsApp.
Services such as character certificates, passport verification, license verification, and checks for guards in apartments and businesses will be accessible online. To ensure the responsible use of online services, applicant or complainant verification will incorporate Aadhar or OTP assistance.
The ambitious Mission Janseva endeavors to achieve its objectives by the year’s end, including a commitment to addressing complaints within 30 minutes of their arrival at the police station. Additionally, investigations related to Mission Janseva complaints will be concluded within 30 days, with regular updates provided to the complainants.
At the grassroots level, community-oriented policing will be facilitated through WhatsApp groups created at the village and locality level. This approach aims to enhance communication, provide accurate information, and gather crucial input from the public. Furthermore, Superintendents of Police from all districts will engage in bi-weekly live Facebook sessions and video conferencing to foster public dialogue.
Initially piloted in five districts – Patna, Muzaffarpur, Darbhanga, Bhagalpur, and Gaya – Mission Janseva’s success has prompted its extension to all districts, with offline complaint hearings reserved for the remaining days of the week.
