मिथिला हाट Model to Expand: Urban Haats Coming to पटना and रोहतास with Rs 77 Crore Boost

Patna: Following the success of Mithila Haat in Madhubani, the Bihar government has announced plans to develop similar Urban Haats in Patna and Rohtas to boost tourism and support local artisans. With a combined investment of Rs 76.96 crore, the initiative aims to create vibrant cultural and commercial hubs reflecting the state’s heritage.

According to government officials, Rs 48.96 crore has been sanctioned for the construction of Patna Haat, while Rs 28 crore will be invested in the Rohtas Haat near the Indrapuri reservoir.

What to Expect at Patna Haat

The Patna Haat, set to be constructed near Gandhi Maidan, will feature a three-storey emporium that sells traditional handicrafts, including Mithila paintings and other folk art products. The space will also include restaurants, a children’s game zone, underground and surface parking, and modern facilities such as lifts, firefighting systems, CCTV, solar power, and more.

Officials say the Haat is envisioned as more than just a shopping complex—it will be a space for entertainment, leisure, and cultural immersion.

Rohtas and the Push for Tourism

Although the full blueprint for Rohtas Haat is yet to be revealed, it is expected to mirror the objectives of Patna Haat by serving as a platform for local artists and craftspeople while enhancing the area’s tourism appeal. Rohtas, already known for its historical and natural attractions, is likely to see an uptick in tourist activity following this development.

Ropeways to Boost Hill Tourism

In a parallel effort to uplift tourism, ropeways will be built in Gaya and Kaimur this year. Notably, a 425-metre ropeway is planned for Mundeshwari hill in Kaimur, facilitating easier access to the revered Mundeshwari Dham.
