Modi 3.0: Chirag Paswan Gets Food Processing, Manjhi MSME; Lallan Panchayati Raj, Giriraj Textile
Patna: The Modi government announced the division of ministerial departments on Monday evening. Among the key appointments, Chirag Paswan has been assigned the Ministry of Food Processing, a role previously held by his uncle, Pashupati Kumar Paras.
HAM (S) patron Jitan Ram Manjhi has been given the Ministry of Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises, while BJP’s Giriraj Singh, MP from Begusarai, takes over the Ministry of Textiles. JD (U)’s Rajiv Ranjan Singh, also known as Lallan Singh, will manage the Ministry of Panchayati Raj along with the Fisheries, Animal Husbandry, and Dairy Ministry.
Ujjiayarpur MP Nityanand Rai has been appointed Union Minister of State for Home Affairs, JD (U)’s Ramnath Thakur as Minister of State for Agriculture and Farmers Welfare, BJP’s Satish Chandra Dubey as Minister of State for Minerals and Coal, and Raj Bhushan Chaudhary as Minister of State for Jal Shakti.
Expressing his gratitude, Chirag said, “I have been entrusted with this responsibility and will carry it forward with full honesty and hard work. This ministry will play a crucial role in the coming days. Under the leadership of the Prime Minister, I am starting a new chapter and will strive to give the Union Food Processing Industry Ministry a new identity both nationally and globally with new technology.”
In the Narendra Modi government’s third term, eight MPs from Bihar have been appointed as ministers. The representation includes two Bhumihar, two Dalit, one Yadav, one EBC, one Brahmin, and one from the Mallah caste. Notably, for the first time, no Rajput caste MP has been included in the ministry.
In Modi’s previous terms, Radha Mohan Singh and Rajiv Pratap Rudy were included in the first term, and RK Singh was appointed in the second term. Despite Rajiv Pratap Rudy defeating Lalu Prasad’s daughter Rohini Acharya in a close contest and Radha Mohan Singh also winning his seat, they have not been included in the current union cabinet.
Raj Bhushan Chaudhary from Muzaffarpur has been made a minister under the Mallah quota. Interestingly, both BJP and its ally, JD (U) have not prioritized the Rajput community. Lovely Anand, a Rajput and wife of Anand Mohan, won the Sheohar seat for JD (U), and LJP (Ram Vilas) MP Veena Devi from Vaishali also belongs to the Rajput caste.
