Monsoon Onset Declared in Bihar via Kishanganj: Statewide Impact Expected in 2-4 Days
Patna: The southwest monsoon officially entered Bihar via Purnia and Kishanganj on Thursday, with its effects expected to spread across the state within the next two to four days, bringing heavy rains. This arrival has provided much-needed relief from the intense heat experienced in recent weeks.
On Thursday morning, pre-monsoon showers were observed in Patna, Motihari, Jehanabad, Buxar, Jamui, and Bhojpur, offering respite to the residents.
However, the continuous rainfall in Nepal has led to a rise in the water level of the Kosi River. On Wednesday, 16 gates of the Kosi Barrage in Supaul were opened, resulting in the submergence of crops across 900 acres along the riverbanks.
According to the India Meteorological Department, Thakurganj in Kishanganj recorded the highest rainfall in the last 24 hours, with 201.6 mm. Significant rainfall was also reported in Araria, Rohtas, and Supaul.
