Motihari: Mahatma Gandhi Central University Tackles Crimes Against Women with Insightful Lecture
MOTIHARI – The Internal Committee of Mahatma Gandhi Central University organized a lecture on the topic of ‘Crimes Against Women: Legal Provisions and Redressal’ at Rajkumar Shukla Auditorium, Chanakya Campus, on Wednesday. District Magistrate, Saurabh Jorwal, and Superintendent of Police Kantesha Mishra, were the speakers on this occasion.
The program commenced with a welcome speech by ICC Chair Professor Shahana Majumdar. In his address, SP Mishra discussed legal remedies available to women, protecting them from offences such as sexual harassment, dowry, cybercrimes, etc.
DM Jorwal, in his speech, addressed deep-rooted societal biases like presenting women as objects, blaming the victim, and normalizing gender discrimination.
In the presidential address, School of Education Dean Prof. Ashish Srivastava emphasized that while the law can cure illnesses, education is the remedy through which gender equality can be ensured.
Gratitude was expressed by the Gender Sensitization Cell’s head, Dr. Sapna Sugandha.
