The victims have been identified as six-year-old Chamcham Kumar, son of Ankush Ram, and his two neighbours — nine-year-old Anjali Kumari and ten-year-old Rajanandini Kumari, daughters of Suresh Ram.

Tragedy During Bathing

According to locals, the children had gone to the river on Monday afternoon to bathe. While playing in the water, their feet reportedly slipped and they were swept away by the strong current. Other children present nearby raised an alarm, prompting villagers to rush to the spot.

Despite frantic efforts to rescue them, the children could not be located by late evening. The villagers attempted a local search operation before informing the police and administrative authorities.

NDRF Rescue Operation Scheduled

Officials stated that the rescue efforts were hampered due to fading daylight. A team from the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) was alerted but could not reach the site in time. The Zonal Officer (CO) of Madhuban block informed that a full-scale rescue operation would be launched on Tuesday morning.
