Multi-Departmental Efforts for Runway Expansion at Bihta Airbase

Patna: A meeting was convened at the Patna Collectorate auditorium under the chairmanship of District Magistrate Chandrashekhar Singh to review the progress of the civil enclave construction at Bihta Airport. The meeting focused on coordinating efforts among various district officials and departments involved in the project, including the Directorate of Civil Aviation, Airports Authority of India, and Indian Air Force.
Director of Patna Airport, Anchal Prakash presented an agenda-wise report, detailing the progress on various issues. District Magistrate Singh emphasized the importance of the civil enclave project, highlighting its potential to significantly enhance passenger convenience. The district administration is committed to providing full support as per the state government’s directives.
To ensure the availability of 190.50 acres of land required for the runway expansion, a multi-member team was formed. The team, consisting of officials from various departments including the Additional Collector and Assistant General Manager Land Management, Patna Airport, has been tasked with visiting the site and submitting a proposal for land availability.
Additionally, the Municipal Council of Bihta was instructed to ensure an efficient drainage system, with borewells to be installed as per regulations. The District Land Acquisition Officer, along with the Sub-Divisional Officer, Danapur, was directed to facilitate the development of a residential complex on the acquired land. The NHAI officer was also asked to present a plan for a 6-lane approach road connecting NH-922 to the proposed civil enclave.
District Magistrate Singh concluded by stressing the need for all officials to expedite the work, with regular reviews scheduled to monitor the progress of the civil enclave construction.
