Muzaffarpur: Flights from Muzaffarpur’s Patahi Airport will begin in 2026, Deputy Chief Minister Samrat Chaudhary announced on Thursday. He was speaking at a business event held at the Chamber of Commerce auditorium in Muzaffarpur. He said that the Bihar government is working on improving air travel in the state, and Muzaffarpur is a key part of this plan.
At present, people from Muzaffarpur and nearby districts like Vaishali and Samastipur have to travel to Patna or Darbhanga to catch a flight. The opening of this airport will make flying easier for them. The Deputy CM also said that if needed, the runway at Patahi Airport will be extended, and more land will be acquired.
Muzaffarpur’s airport will make air travel more accessible for North Bihar. It is the only region that currently has just one working airport, located in Darbhanga. The government plans to build more airports in cities like Raxaul, Madhubani, Valmiki Nagar, Saharsa, and Birpur.
The state already has active airports in Patna, Gaya, and Darbhanga. The government has also said that Purnia Airport in the Seemanchal area will begin operations this year. These developments aim to improve travel and connectivity across Bihar.
