Muzaffarpur: Three boys returning home after attending a Durga Puja fair were attacked by miscreants wielding knives late Tuesday night. One of the boys, identified as 20-year-old Nitish Kumar from the Devgan area of the Katra police station, died at the spot, while the other two, Dheeraj Kumar (16) and Pragyan Kumar (12), sustained serious injuries and were rushed to SKMCH Medical College for treatment.

The attack happened in the Devgan area as the boys were making their way home.

In a statement, injured Pragyan Kumar recounted that the three of them were confronted by four individuals, including Ganesh Das (22), who were standing near a temple along their route. The assailants suddenly stopped them and began the knife attack, resulting in the death of his cousin Nitish, while Dheeraj and Pragyan suffered severe injuries while trying to intervene.
