Muzaffarpur in Line for Four Vande Bharat Trains as Railways Seeks Feasibility Report

Muzaffarpur / Patna : Indian Railways is considering expanding the Vande Bharat Express network in Bihar, with Muzaffarpur emerging as a key contender for the addition of four new services. A feasibility report has been commissioned to assess the viability of operating these high-speed trains from the city, officials have confirmed.

The East Central Railway (ECR) has directed its Sonpur division to initiate the study, and an assessment of Muzaffarpur Junction is already underway. A team comprising officials from the commercial and operational departments will conduct a 15-day survey to gather data on passenger demand, logistical requirements, and infrastructure capacity.

Proposed Routes Under Consideration

The Sonpur division had earlier proposed four routes for the new Vande Bharat trains, linking Muzaffarpur with New Delhi, New Jalpaiguri, Howrah, and Varanasi. The Railway Board has now expedited the evaluation process to determine the feasibility of these services before granting approval.

Assessing Demand and Feasibility

The feasibility study will examine various factors, including passenger demand, potential disruptions to existing train services, and fare structures. Railway officials will also seek input from passengers, both at ticket booking counters and on platforms, to ensure a comprehensive assessment.
