Muzaffarpur to Get International-Standard Riverfront Along Burhi Gandak

Muzaffarpur: The Bihar government has announced plans to develop an international-standard riverfront along the Burhi Gandak River in Muzaffarpur. The project aims to enhance the city’s infrastructure while promoting tourism. Officials working on the initiative will visit the Sabarmati riverfront in Ahmedabad and the Yamuna riverfront in Delhi to study their design and technology before finalising the blueprint for Muzaffarpur riverfront.

The River Cities Alliance (RCA), a national initiative launched two years ago, will provide technical expertise and guidance to help overcome construction and logistical challenges. The detailed project report (DPR) is expected to be finalised based on these insights.

Key Features and Investment

The riverfront will include an eight-kilometre elevated road connecting Dadar Kolhua Ghat to BMP-6. The ghats along the Burhi Gandak will be revitalised, with provisions for regular cleaning, lighting, and improved access. The development aims to enhance connectivity across different parts of Muzaffarpur while ensuring.Â
