‘My Role Will Be Decided by the People and Supreme Court, Not by Party or Family’: Tej Pratap Hits Back After Expulsion

Patna: Tej Pratap Yadav, the elder son of RJD chief Lalu Prasad, has hit out after being expelled from both his party and family, declaring that his future will be shaped not by political dynasties but by public will and the rule of law. In a defiant social media post, he stated, “My role will be decided by my beloved public and the Hon’ble Supreme Court, not by any party or family.”

This marks his first confrontational response since Lalu Prasad, in a striking Facebook statement on May 26, expelled him from the Rashtriya Janata Dal for six years and severed family ties, citing behaviour that undermined “moral values” and the party’s collective mission.
“Ignoring moral values in personal life weakens our collective struggle for social justice,” Lalu wrote. “The activities, public conduct and irresponsible behaviour of my eldest son are not in accordance with our family values and sanskaar. Therefore, due to the above circumstances, I remove him from the party and family.”

The move followed viral images of Tej Pratap Yadav with a woman, with unverified claims circulating online suggesting a second marriage. Though Tej Pratap has not directly commented on the photos, his message signals a sharp turn away from silence.
“Those who mistake my silence for weakness should know I am aware of your conspiracies. You started it—I will end it,” he wrote, adding that he would soon “break the labyrinth of lies and deceit” surrounding the controversy.
The expulsion exposes widening rifts within the Yadav political dynasty, especially as Tej Pratap has long had a strained relationship with his younger brother, RJD leader Tejashwi Prasad Yadav. With Bihar headed for assembly elections in 2025, the public family drama could have ripple effects for the Grand Alliance’s political messaging.
While the party has maintained silence since the expulsion, Tej Pratap’s latest remarks suggest he is preparing for a long and public confrontation—one that, by his own words, he believes will be decided not within political rooms, but before the people and the court.
