NAAC Peer Review Team Visits Bihar Agricultural University for Kisan Drone Operator Training Program

Sabour: The Peer Review Team (PRT) of the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) visited Bihar Agricultural University (BAU) in Sabour as part of the NAAC accreditation process. During their visit, the team engaged with participants of the Kisan Drone Operator Training Program, an initiative led by the Directorate of Extension Education under the Bihar Skill Development Mission.

The program, which began on 4 December 2024, offers a comprehensive 270-hour course in collaboration with the Agricultural Skills Council of India (ASCI). The curriculum is designed to equip participants with both theoretical knowledge and practical skills related to the use of drone technology in agricultural operations, including drone operation planning, safety regulations, data analysis, and entrepreneurial skills. The session was attended by 28 participants, including four women, who demonstrated drone operation and spraying techniques.

NAAC PRT members praised the progress of the participants and the success of the program. They highlighted its significance in empowering youth and integrating modern technology into agriculture. The NAAC Chairman commended BAU’s efforts to promote digital agriculture, emphasizing the transformative role drone technology can play in enhancing precision farming, improving resource efficiency, and contributing to sustainability.

BAU Vice Chancellor Dr. D.R. Singh reiterated the importance of skill development in the agricultural sector, particularly for rural youth. He expressed confidence that such initiatives would lead to greater self-reliance and contribute to the modernization of agriculture. The practical demonstrations and the alignment of the program with the ASCI-accredited curriculum received high praise from the NAAC PRT officials.
