NDA To Contest Bihar Elections Under Nitish Kumar’s Leadership, Says Chirag Paswan

Patna: The National Democratic Alliance (NDA) in Bihar will contest the upcoming elections under the leadership of Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, Union Minister Chirag Paswan reaffirmed on Sunday. His statement came after a high-level NDA meeting held at Nitish Kumar’s residence in Patna, chaired by Union Home Minister Amit Shah.

Leaders of all five alliance partners—JD(U), BJP, LJP (R), HAM (S), and VIP—attended the meeting, where discussions focused on election strategy, highlighting development work, and countering the opposition.

Speaking to reporters after the meeting, LJP (R) president Chirag Paswan said, “This is an election year for the state. We discussed how to present the development work of both the central and state governments before the people and how to take on the opposition.”

Paswan claimed that NDA’s unity posed a significant challenge for the opposition, contrasting it with reported internal rifts within the Grand Alliance. “On one hand, the NDA is strong and united, while on the other, the Grand Alliance is struggling with internal conflicts—especially between the Congress and the RJD—over seat-sharing,” he said.

He also took a swipe at the Congress’s campaign in Bihar, remarking that the party’s chosen face is essentially acknowledging the development work carried out by the NDA government.

The meeting, attended by around 18 senior NDA leaders, lasted for over an hour and a half. It was decided that the alliance would contest the elections together with a target of securing 225 seats. Ahead of the assembly elections, the NDA will launch joint election campaigns to consolidate its support base.
