NEET Aspirant Dies By Suicide In Patna After Exam Setback

Patna: An 18-year-old student preparing for the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET) died by suicide in Danapur on Wednesday, reportedly after receiving low marks in an online mock test.

The incident occurred in Dariyapur Shivala, under Shahpur police station limits. According to police, the student had appeared for an online NEET test on Sunday and was reportedly upset about her performance.

Family members said they grew concerned on Wednesday morning when she did not respond to repeated knocks on her door. They then called a relative living nearby, who helped force the door open. The student was found hanging from a ceiling fan using a dupatta.

At the time of the incident, her father was in Secunderabad for the admission process of another child. Shahpur police station in-charge Manish Kumar Anand said initial statements from family members suggest the student may have taken the step due to distress over her exam scores.

Police have handed over the body to the family following a post-mortem examination. An investigation is underway.
