NEET Exam Scandal: Four Dummy Candidates Apprehended in Purnia, Deal Worth 20 Lakhs; Accused Hail from Rajasthan, Bhojpur, Sitamarhi, and Begusarai
Purnia: In a shocking turn of events during the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET) examination in Purnia, four individuals were apprehended for impersonating candidates, shedding light on a clandestine operation rife with deception and illicit deals.
The duplicitous scheme, reportedly orchestrated for a sum of Rs 20 lakh, involved the substitution of exam candidates with imposters, each promised a share of Rs 5 lakh upon completion of the paper.
Interrogations into the matter commenced promptly following the arrests, with the prime suspect identified as Kamlesh Kumar from Khaka Ram village, Jalore, Rajasthan, caught posing as candidate Dheeraj Prakash. Similarly, Nitish Kumar of Bihiyan village, Bhojpur, found writing the exam in place of candidate Ashish, was also detained.
Saurabh Kumar from Matihani police station, Begusarai, and Mayank Chaudhary alias Krishna Kumar from Sitamarhi, were implicated for impersonating candidates Tathagata Kumar and Deepak Kumar, respectively.
The NEET examination, held at the SRDAC School, was marred by suspicion during the second shift, prompting invigilators to flag the dubious actions of the imposters. Subsequent interrogation revealed the involvement of the four individuals in the elaborate scam.
Mayank Chaudhary, one of the apprehended individuals, disclosed that all four were medical students and the deal was brokered through a third party. While the agreed sum had not been fully disbursed, they had received partial payment for expenses incurred during the exam.
Superintendent of Police Upendra Nath Verma confirmed the incident, detailing the suspicions raised by invigilators at the SRDAC School exam center. Following interrogation, the imposters confessed to their involvement, unraveling the intricate web of deceit surrounding the scandal.
As investigations progress, authorities are delving into the identities of the individuals on whose behalf the imposters appeared for the examination. The arrested individuals have been remanded into custody pending further inquiries, as law enforcement endeavors to unearth the masterminds behind the nefarious operation.
