NEET Paper Leak: Two Candidates Questioned by Economic Offenses Unit in Patna

Patna: In the ongoing investigation into the NEET paper leak case in Bihar, two candidates arrived at the Patna headquarters of the Economic Offenses Unit (EOU) for questioning. Isha, a resident of Bakhtiyarpur, attended with her parents, while the second candidate came with her father and uncle. Both candidates were interrogated for approximately two and a half hours.

Before her questioning, Isha stated that she would cooperate fully with the EOU investigation. The second candidate, who chose to remain anonymous, declined to make any comments. The EOU also questioned the parents of both candidates.

Previously, the EOU had summoned nine candidates for questioning, but only two complied.

The NEET exam, conducted nationwide on May 5, saw over 24 lakh candidates participating, including many from Bihar. During the exam in Bihar, authorities arrested 13 individuals involved in a solver gang, including four medical students. Additionally, four individuals were apprehended in Purnia for impersonation during biometric checks. The Gopalganj police also detained a student for taking the exam on behalf of another candidate.

The case, registered under number 358/24 at Shastrinagar police station in Patna, includes charges of tampering with the NEET paper. The dummy candidates arrested in Purnia hailed from Jalore, Bhojpur, Begusarai, and Sitamarhi in Rajasthan. All were apprehended at the SRDAC School exam center under Madhubani TOP police station in the city.

The student caught in Gopalganj, identified as Satish Kumar from Kudla village in Barmer district, Rajasthan, was also part of the impersonation scheme.
