Patna: All government schools in Bihar will reopen on June 23 with new timings. The Education Department has decided that classes in all 81,000 elementary, secondary, and higher secondary schools will now run from 9:30am to 4:00pm. This change comes after the end of the summer vacation, which lasted from June 2 to June 22.
The Director of Secondary Education has sent a letter to all District Education Officers with instructions about the new schedule. The department hopes this timing will be more suitable now that the intense summer heat has passed.
Earlier, due to high temperatures, schools followed a special summer timetable from April 7 to June 1. During that time, classes were held from 6:30am to 12:30pm. The day began with morning prayers, followed by seven periods and a short midday break. This schedule was made to protect students from the heat during peak hours.
With normal timings back in place, schools have been told to prepare for the full-day routine, including midday meals and transportation. Parents and students are advised to follow the new schedule from the reopening day itself.
