NIFT Patna celebrates Convocation 2024 with distinguished guests and student accolades

Patna: NIFT Patna held its prestigious convocation ceremony for the Class of 2024 in the CIMP auditorium on Saturday, marking a major milestone for 212 graduates from five undergraduate and one postgraduate programme. The event, a culmination of the students’ academic journey, was attended by several dignitaries, including the Union Minister for Textiles, Giriraj Singh, as the chief guest. Tanu Kashyap, Director General of NIFT, served as the chief host.

The ceremony opened with the National Anthem, followed by the lighting of the ceremonial lamp and a Sarasvati Vandana. Col. Rahul Sharma, Director of NIFT Patna, presented the Annual Academic Report, highlighting the institution’s collaborations with bodies such as CNLU, IIM Bodh Gaya, and CIMP Patna. He also detailed the remarkable achievements of both students and faculty in research, competitions, and conferences.

Notable dignitaries delivered inspiring speeches during the event. Bihar’s Minister of Industries & Tourism, Nitish Mishra, spoke about the excellence and positive reputation of Bihari students across various fields. Meanwhile, Patna Sahib MP Ravishankar Prasad discussed Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s key initiatives, including Digital India, Start-up India, and Skill India.

The chief guest, Union Minister Giriraj Singh, encouraged 50 students from government schools to aspire to join NIFT’s design programmes. He praised NIFT’s Vision Next initiative, which aims to introduce India’s own size standards, and also recognised the work of NIFT alumnus Manish Tripathi, who designed clothing for Lord Rama in Ayodhya.

In her address, Chief Host Tanu Kashyap welcomed the graduates into the NIFT alumni family. She offered words of encouragement, reminding students that in moments of failure, they should never feel alone and should always remember the support and guidance from their alma mater.

As the event drew to a close, several outstanding students were honoured with awards. The NIFT Best Academic Performance Award went to Inshra Fatima (AD), Bushra Sayeed Imam (BFT), Atul Kumar (FC), Ananya Kumar (FD), Ankita Kumari (MFM), and Asmita Pramanik (TD). Amit Kumar Choudhary (AD) received the NIFT Extraordinary Service Award, while Ashlesha Shankar (MFM) was named NIFT Student of the Year.

The ceremony concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Dr. Vikas, bringing the celebrations to a successful close, as the new graduates stepped into the next phase of their professional journeys.
