Nine Accused in Muzaffarpur for Alleged Abduction and Sexual Assault of Women for Months on Pretext of Jobs
Muzaffarpur: Authorities in Muzaffarpur district, Bihar, have filed charges against nine individuals accused of detaining several young women for months and sexually assaulting them under the pretense of job offers.
The suspects, who are affiliated with a bogus marketing firm, are currently evading capture, according to Deputy SP Vinita Sinha. “An extensive search is underway to locate the absconding suspects. The case was initiated following a directive from the court,” Sinha stated.
The investigation began when one of the victims filed a complaint in court. “The complainant and other victims have provided their statements. The complainant revealed that the suspects initially contacted her via social media in June 2022, luring her to Muzaffarpur with the promise of employment,” Sinha explained.
Upon reaching Muzaffarpur, the victim was confined in a room with other young women. They were subsequently moved to an undisclosed location where they were forced to make recruitment calls for the fraudulent firm.
“The suspects eventually began cohabiting with the victims, who were held captive, physically assaulted, and sexually abused. The victims were coerced into marriages and later tricked into undergoing abortions,” Sinha reported. The victims were told they were part of the firm when they asked for their salaries.
One survivor managed to escape and sought to file an FIR at the police station, but her initial attempt was rebuffed, prompting her to seek judicial intervention. Deputy SP Sinha has assured that an inquiry will be conducted to determine why the police did not initially register her complaint.
