Nitish Denies Future Alliance with Lalu, Affirms Commitment to NDA
Patna: In a decisive statement on Saturday, Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar unequivocally declared the termination of his alliance with the Mahagathbandhan, citing its failure as the impetus behind his departure. The Janata Dal (United) national president firmly dismissed any prospect of rekindling ties with the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD), amidst assertions from RJD supremo Lalu Prasad Yadav that the door remained open for collaboration.
Amidst the political backdrop of Bihar, Nitish’s remarks underscored a definitive shift in the state’s political landscape. “Don’t listen to what others have to say,” Nitish iterated, addressing the dissolution of the coalition. “We took them along, but that failed. We had to leave them,” he added, highlighting the irreconcilable differences that led to the split.
Now at the helm of the newly formed NDA government in the state, Nitish turned his focus towards Bihar’s interests, distancing himself from past affiliations. Addressing speculations regarding the opposition alliance, he voiced his disapproval of the name ‘INDIA’ for the bloc, emphasizing his dedication to serving Bihar.
“I tried my best,” Nitish affirmed to reporters in Patna, expressing his reservations about the chosen alliance name. “The alliance was long over. Now I am working for the people of Bihar and will continue doing it,” he asserted, marking a definitive departure from past political entanglements.
Further, Nitish addressed allegations of irregularities within the RJD, pledging to investigate any found under his administration’s watch. “We don’t tolerate irregularities under our nose,” he declared, signaling a commitment to transparency and accountability in governance.
Reflecting on the formation of the INDIA bloc, Nitish lamented the unilateral decision-making process, asserting that his suggestions for an alternative name were disregarded. “Is it working now?” he questioned, highlighting the disconnect that led to the coalition’s dissolution. “We left the coalition for the sake of our commitment towards working for the swift development of Bihar,” Nitish affirmed, underlining his unwavering dedication to the state’s progress.
Responding to queries regarding Rahul Gandhi’s Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra, Nitish dismissed the Congress MP’s efforts as “worthless,” criticizing his repeated calls for a caste survey in Bihar. Kumar’s resolute stance further solidified his commitment to Bihar’s development agenda, marking a definitive break from past political affiliations.
