Nitish Kumar Gifts Rs 1500 Crore Development Schemes to Darbhanga During Pragati Yatra
Darbhanga: Chief Minister Nitish Kumar announced schemes worth Rs 1500 crore for Darbhanga district during his Pragati Yatra. The package included the inauguration and foundation stone laying of 186 projects, with 89 schemes inaugurated at a cost of Rs 935.28 crore and 97 schemes launched with a foundation cost of Rs 561.75 crore.
Major Inaugurations and Foundation Stones
Nitish Kumar inaugurated a large shelter home building under the Chief Minister Bal Ashray Vikas Yojana in Mauja Manihas. Built on 5 acres, the facility provides accommodation for 200 children (100 boys and 100 girls) and staff. Equipped with 32 CCTV cameras, street lights, and fire safety measures, the shelter home aims to provide a safe and modern environment.
The Chief Minister inspected Chandrasar pond in Singhwada block, located on 52 bighas of land. He instructed officials to construct a stepped ghat and conduct tree plantations around the pond. Beneficiaries of the Makhana Vikas Yojana received symbolic cheques for Makhana Bhandar Grih construction, and he interacted with members of the Singhwada Block Matsyajivi Sahayog Samiti.
Focus on Education, Health, and Rural Development
The Chief Minister inaugurated Kasturba Gandhi Balika Vidyalaya at Simri and praised students undergoing judo and karate training. He also inaugurated multiple facilities, including Sudha Dairy Booth, a Primary Agricultural Credit Cooperative Society, a Punjab National Bank branch, and an Anganwadi center. At the Health and Wellness Center in Simri, he reviewed prenatal check-up facilities and other medical services.
At the Plus Two High School in Simri, he inaugurated and laid the foundation stone for various development schemes. Jeevika beneficiaries received symbolic cheques worth Rs 9.87 crore for 2,391 families under the Sustainable Livelihood Scheme and Rs 284.79 crore as credit linkage for 23,384 Jeevika self-help groups. He also distributed keys to Jeevika Bhawan and vehicles under different schemes.
Infrastructure and Connectivity Initiatives
Nitish Kumar inspected the site of a proposed international/interstate bus terminal at Delhi Mor in Darbhanga, along with Harahi, Digghi, and Ganga Sagar ponds. He suggested interconnecting the three ponds and constructing stepped ghats for easy access. He also reviewed plans for multiple flyovers, bypass roads, and elevated roads in Darbhanga to ease traffic congestion.
The Chief Minister inspected the railway crossing at Donar Chowk and reviewed plans for constructing road over bridges (ROBs) and other road projects, including elevated roads near Darbhanga Medical College and Hospital. Officials provided detailed blueprints for these projects, including a Rs 134.67 crore ROB between Darbhanga and Laheriyasarai railway stations.
Law Enforcement and Civic Development
The newly constructed Senior Superintendent of Police office building in Darbhanga, built at a cost of Rs 9.56 crore, was inaugurated along with other police buildings. The Chief Minister also laid the foundation stone for 12 police buildings, including Mahila Constable Barracks and model police stations, costing Rs 37.41 crore.
Interaction with Jeevika Didis
Nitish Kumar engaged with Jeevika Didis, highlighting their contributions to household incomes and community development. He praised their entrepreneurial spirit and emphasized the importance of self-help groups in empowering women. He encouraged them to continue their efforts in various business ventures.
Dignitaries Present
Several dignitaries and officials attended the event, including Deputy Chief Minister Samrat Chaudhary, Ministers Vijay Kumar Chaudhary, Mangal Pandey, Madan Sahni, and Hari Sahni, MPs Sanjay Kumar Jha and Gopal Singh Thakur, and MLAs Vinay Kumar Chaudhary, Sanjay Saraogi, Aman Bhushan Hazari, and Jeevesh Kumar. Senior officials such as Chief Secretary Deepak Kumar, Urban Development Secretary Abhay Kumar Singh, and District Magistrate Rajiv Roshan were also present.
The initiatives announced during the Pragati Yatra underscore the state government’s commitment to infrastructure, education, health, and rural development in Darbhanga.
